Dollar Store Finds

It's been a while since I have treasure hunted at the Dollar Tree.  A few days ago, I stopped by for some dice, but came home with a lot more....

These two counting posters ($1 for the pair) match my classroom perfectly!  The kids and I both love the Count by 2's one.  It gives such a good visual to go along with this skill.  The count to 100 poster can also be used as a game.  I plan to use it this way during our 100th day of school activities.  (Sorry about the  shine, but I had laminated these before I got around to taking pictures...)
I do still have a traditional 100 chart poster for counting left to right and counting by tens, but the new one adds some variety.

I also picked up these two puzzles.

This game offers directions for two players and fun exposure to color words.

And for frosting on the cake...
Foam sight word dice (a little bigger than a one inch cube) and a two minute timer. I will be making some center games for these this week :).

There are just a few days left to sign up for the  Valentine Exchange!

Blessings,

Back to School Sale at TPT and My New Portfolio

120 × 125

I am participating in the Back to School Sale at Teachers Pay Teachers today and tomorrow.  Be sure to stop by my shop for 20 percent off of everything during these two days!

I have just added a new file of Portfolio printables and it is included in the two day sale!  Click on any of the pictures to take you to my shop.
There are covers for Pre-K, preschool, and kindergarten.  The pages cover handprints, self-portraits, family pictures, letter recognition, sight words, and more!  Just print the pages you wish to use.

I like to use bingo daubers with these pages.  You could also have students color the circles of the letters they know.
Most of the pages have both color and black and white versions, you can choose which to use depending on your ink and printing situation.

There are lists for Pre-primer and Primer sight words.

You can choose to do pages once or several different times during the year to track progress. I like to place the pages in a binder, so I can also add other student treasures.

I love to read your comments.

Sight word egg hunt

Happy Dance...
Love, love, love to find another way to use a printable that I have already created!   Today I borrowed the idea I have seen on other blogs for having students unscramble letter tiles to make spelling words, etc.  I printed a page from my Bunny and Egg Printables for Pre-K and K set and placed the appropriate letter tiles in plastic eggs.

Students will color the egg on the printable using the same color as the egg they found the sight word in.  (This will also give me a way to check that they did actually complete the activity and not just randomly color the eggs of sight words that they "found.")

Here are a few other items in the the printable set:

The adorable art in the printable set is by Kate Hadfield.

Sight Word Game

I recently purchased a KiddoCube for sight word practice.  I made this free printable game to use with it.

I cut up the six sight words (there are three different sets in this printable), put them in the clear pockets, and then I show the words (directly from the pdf file)  on the Smart Board. Of course you could also write the words on a dry erase board for the students to see.  The students copy the words as many times as they wish to to fill in their own game boards.  Once everyone has filled up the fifteen blank spaces with sight words from the list, I start rolling the cube.  Students cross out one sight word each time it is rolled.  I like the fact that students practice both writing and reading the words.  I may try putting the sheets in write and wipe pockets to save paper.

I'd love to hear about any sight word games that are working in your classroom.
